BALANCING WEIGHT OF LEAD

Directive 2000/53 / EC concerning End of Life Vehicles stated that vehicles such astype approved in accordance with 70/156 / EU (fully approved) from 1 July 2003may not contain: heavy metals (lead, mercury, cadmium or hexavalent chromium)Balancing weights are not exempt.Cars approved before the above date are permanently excluded.At a meeting of the TAC on March 16, 2005, the question arose what should be donewith outstanding stock of lead weights. The EU Commission clarified that lead weightsplaced on the market before 1 July 2005 may be used.Therefore, balancing weights of lead in stock may still be used. Date iAnnex II is valid only for the day the product is placed on the market.Lead weights intended for vehicles registered under Directive 70/156 / EC andsold after July 1, 2005 may not be used!
